Enjoy being active
BMX, scooters, skateboarding and inline skating offer different ways into sport. Our aim is to help young people find an activity they enjoy and want to keep coming back to.
OUR CHARITY · ASYLUM ACES
Helping children and young people get active, learn to ride and find their confidence in a welcoming skatepark community.
MORE THAN A SKATEPARK
Asylum is a children’s charity built around a simple belief: young people deserve a positive place to spend their time, discover sport and feel part of something.
Our indoor skatepark gives children and young people space to learn to ride, practise at their own pace and share the experience with others. For one rider, progress is rolling down a ramp for the first time. For another, it is finding the confidence to try again.
Behind the park is Asylum Academy for Extreme Sports (ACES), registered charity 1159288, supporting community participation in sport across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR
We want every visit to be a chance to move, learn and connect.
BMX, scooters, skateboarding and inline skating offer different ways into sport. Our aim is to help young people find an activity they enjoy and want to keep coming back to.
Learning a skill takes patience. A small achievement on the ramps can be a reason to feel proud: setting a goal, giving it a go and seeing what practice makes possible.
A shared interest can make starting a conversation easier. We want Asylum to be a place where riders encourage each other, make friends and respect different levels of experience.
EVERY RIDER STARTS SOMEWHERE
A first visit can feel like a big step. Tell us the rider’s age, chosen sport and experience, and ask about a suitable session or coaching. The goal is to start with the basics, feel comfortable in the park and build from there.
A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
We want young people to feel welcome and supported while learning to use the park responsibly. Preparation, suitable equipment and consideration for other riders all matter.
Everyone must register through Sessions before arrival to avoid delays. Read the park rules, check the session details and ask the team about anything you are unsure of before riding.
Start with what feels manageable and build up gradually. Check what equipment you need for your session and speak to the team if you would like guidance before taking your next step.
Take turns, give other riders space and keep the ramps clear. Respectful riding helps everyone enjoy the park. If something worries you, speak to a member of the team.
FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILIES
Every young person arrives with different interests, confidence and support needs. Our charitable work includes children and young people and people with disabilities.
If you are planning a first visit, have an access question or need to discuss a rider’s individual needs, please get in touch before booking. We can talk through the park, the available sessions and what to consider for your visit.
Schools, youth groups and community organisations are welcome to contact us to discuss a visit. Tell us about your group, your aims and the support you need so we can explore what is possible together.
