Asylum Academy for Extreme Sports (ACES)

At the end of November 2014 Asylum Academy For Extreme Sports (registered charity number 1159288), ACES for short, was born. In 2015 we provided free sessions and hire equipment to the value of £21,186 to local children’s homes, specialist schools, youth groups and ACES team members.

Our Aim

Our aim is to be sustainable, to grow and to make a significant positive impact on our local community. We hope to keep our facilities new and up to date and expand our charitable activities through private sponsorship, grant funding and funded projects. We aim to ensure that talented youngsters receive sufficient support to progress within their chosen sport and reach their full potential. We also aim to keep our facilities accessible to local young people who may not otherwise be able to afford to participate in extreme sports.

The Plan

We have introduced BMX and scooter lessons and plan to extend these to include in-line and skateboard lessons. We currently hire BMX bikes and scooters and plan to increase our stock of hire equipment to cater for a broader age range and larger groups, e.g youth groups and schools. We plan to extend our facilities to include a foam pit, airbag and resi-ramps, so people can try new skills and tricks without the risk of injury, an essential factor in enabling youngsters to maximise their potential. This will also attract more young people to try extreme sports and encourage them to become more active.

We also plan to extend our facilities to include outdoor dirt jumps and a pump track to attract a more diverse range of customers which will help us to be sustainable. In addition to providing these new facilities we plan to maintain and improve our building, with an eye on our impact on the planet, introducing LED lighting, rainwater harvesting and solar power.

Getting Involved
